The Arizona Diamondbacks lost to the Texas Rangers 5-0 on Wednesday night, and the Rangers won their first World Series.
Texas won the title by going 11-0 on the road in the playoffs. They placed second in the American League West this season and got a wild card. They will be known for how well they play on the road and how strong their attack is.
The New York Yankees, the San Diego Padres, the Seattle Mariners, the Tampa Bay Rays, and the Milwaukee Brewers are the only teams that have never won the World Series.
Each of those teams has been to the World Series. The Mariners, who have only been playing since 1977, have not been there yet.
Two times, in 1984 and 1998, San Diego has made it to the World Series. Bruce Bochy, the manager of the Rangers, was in charge of the Padres when they lost to the New York Yankees in 1999.
Also, the Rays have been to the World Series twice and lost both times, to the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008 and the Los Angeles Dodgers in COVID 2020.
The Rockies have only been to the Fall Classic once, and they lost to the Boston Red Sox in 2007.
What about the Brewers? They made it to the World Series in 1982, when they were in the American League. They play in the National League now, but they haven’t been to the World Series yet as a member of the NL.
Now that the Rangers have won, the vacation has begun. Let’s get these five teams to work on ending their own droughts.
