▶ All seven London-based Premier League teams have been given home games.
▶ Arsenal will host Liverpool in the most interesting third-round FA Cup match.
▶ IAN LADYMAN: Liverpool are missing two players for another great time. It’s All Kicking Off.
Following a security nightmare caused by the draw, the Met Police are in talks with the FA to move some of next month’s FA Cup third-round games.
Because of some strange luck, all seven of London’s Premier League teams have been drawn at home. Millwall and QPR have also been drawn at home.
The games are set to happen between Friday, January 5, and Monday, January 8, but the exact times have not been set yet.
Because of the problems with logistics, the Met Police are likely to have a big say in the schedule.
To make matters worse for the Met, a lot of their police time is being spent organising the weekly pro-Palestine marches that happen in central London every Saturday.
Both Luton and Watford were also drawn at home, which is also bad news. This means that Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Police will have a busy weekend.
The Met Police and the FA both refused to say anything.
The most interesting thing about the third round of the FA Cup is Arenal’s welcome of Liverpool. It will be the first time these two teams have played in the same league since 2014, when Arsenal beat Manchester United 2-1 at home in the fifth round.
If you remember the final in 2001, Michael Owen scored two goals to give Liverpool a 2-1 win and help them win the Cup treble.
Their eight wins in the competition were the fewest in history; the Gunners have won it a record 14 times.
