NEW YORK. Soccer announced on Thursday that Olympic gold medalist and two-time Women’s World Cup victor Kelley O’Hara will retire at the conclusion of the 2024 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season.
The 35-year-old O’Hara, a vital member of the American defence, participated in every World Cup between 2011 and 2023, amassing 160 caps for the nation.

“Representing my country and donning the U.S. Soccer crest has been among the greatest honours of my life,” said O’Hara, who currently competes for defending NWSL champions Gotham FC.
“I am filled with gratitude as this chapter of my existence draws to a close. “As I reflect on my career, I am filled with gratitude not only for the accomplishments I attained but, more significantly, for the individuals with whom I shared those achievements.”
Twelve American women, including the winger, have participated in all four World Cups.
