Kannur: An 18-year-old girl from Thalassery who had an eating problem called “Anorexia” died at the Thalassery co-operative hospital where she was getting treatment after going almost six months without eating.

Sree Nanda, who was from Meruvambai Thalassery and died on Sunday, used to follow weight loss websites and was only drinking water.

A senior doctor at Thalaserry Co-operative Hospital named Dr. Nagesh Manohar Prabhu said that she was brought to the hospital about 12 days ago and was taken straight to the intensive care unit (ICU).

“She was barely 24 kg and bedridden,” the doctor said. Sugar, salt, and blood pressure were all low in her. She was outside on a ventilator. But her health didn’t get better, and she died.

Anorexia is an eating disease that makes people worry a lot about their weight and what they eat, say doctors. It’s possible for someone with this condition to think they are overweight even if they are not. They will refuse to eat.

Both the family and the doctors say that the condition lasted for five to six months.

Not much was getting into her, and she hid it from her family. She was taken to the hospital about five months ago, where doctors told her she needed to eat and asked her family to see a psychiatrist.

A family member said she hid the food her parents gave her and lived off of hot water.

Two months ago, she was taken to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital for tests. The family was told by doctors to feed her and see a psychiatrist.

Her blood sugar dropped two weeks ago, and she was having trouble breathing. She was taken to Thalaserry Co-operative Hospital right away.

Anorexia nervosa, or AN, is a serious mental illness marked by excessive worries about weight, shape, and self-esteem. Sadly, a lot of family members, friends, and celebs have been diagnosed with it. AN symptoms include an eating problem, limiting what you eat, vomiting on purpose, and becoming very thin very quickly.
