Pep Guardiola has been talking about Lionel Messi and says he hopes to give the GOAT the send-off at Barcelona that he deserves one day.
Barcelona could not extend Messi’s deal, so they let him go to PSG in 2021. However, the forward did not get to say a proper goodbye to the Catalans.
There are still rumors that Messi could come back this summer, but Barcelona’s financial problems make it hard to see how they could make that happen.
Guardiola has made it clear that he wants Messi to come back and that he wants to be at the Camp Nou when the GOAT says goodbye.
“I’m a Barcelona fan, I have tickets to Camp Nou, and I just hope that one day we can say goodbye to him the way he deserves,” he said. “He’s the best player of all time.”About 12 years ago, Barcelona had a “boom,” which wouldn’t have happened without him. And I’m not talking about numbers. I’m talking about how involved he was in the play, how beautiful he was, how well he worked, how well he worked, everything.
I would have never guessed that it would end the way it did. I’m sure that president Joan Laporta loves Leo, and since he left, he’s said that Messi deserves a big send-off because he’s such a big deal. “Leo made our club much better than it was when he came,” Laporta said. When someone is so big, you have to know how to say goodbye.
He left because he was having a hard time financially, and there are a million other reasons I won’t go into. I hope that one day I’ll be sitting in my seat and be able to stand up, applause, and say goodbye to Leo the way he deserves. And I know that Joan [Laporta] and Leo will try, and that he and his family will get all the love and respect that Barcelona fans have for him for what he did for the club.

This week, Messi’s father shut down rumors that his son had already agreed to move to Saudi Arabia. Jorge Messi said on social media that a choice won’t be made until the season is over.
