Volleyball for women
With a 3-1 win over Yale, the volleyball team made it to the second round of the NCAA competition. As a team, the Nittany Lions hit.373% in the game, with 19 kills from Jess Mruzik. At least four blocks were made by Taylor Trammell, Zoe Weatherington, and Allie Holland, and 15 digs were made by Gillian Grimes.
Tonight at 6:30, the Lions will play Kansas in the Sweet 16. They want to make it to the next round.
Soccer for women
The women’s soccer team’s great season came to an end last Saturday when they lost to Clemson 2-1. The Tigers scored the first goal in the 70th minute, after the first half ended with no goals. In just two minutes, Penn State’s Kaitlyn MacBean scored to tie the game. There were only six minutes left in the game when Caroline Conti of Clemson found a hole in the Lions’ defense and scored the game-winning goal. Penn State lost badly, but it was a tough game between two of the best teams in the country.
