This week, the U.S. Women’s National Team held a football camp in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The camp brought together some experienced players and some new players to start getting ready for the 2024 season and upcoming International Friendlies.
Some names that fans are used to seeing on the strong team are missing from the December International Friendlies lineup. These include Megan Rapinoe and Julie Ertz, who have retired, as well as Alex Morgan and Crystal Dunn, who are still playing.
Defence player Abby Dahlkemper of San Diego Wave FC is one of the professionals who will be back for another year of play. The football player played in her first FIFA World Cup in Paris in 2019. The football pro couldn’t play in the 2023 World Cup in New Zealand this past summer, though, because he hurt his back in late November of last year.

Even though she had a hiccup, she came back strong near the end of the 2023 NWSL season and helped the Wave win their first NWSL Shield, which is given to the team with the best regular season record every year.
Unfortunately, the next FIFA Women’s World Cup won’t happen until 2027. Until then, we hope to see some of our favourite senior faces, like Dahlkemper’s, back on the big stage.
It will be the first international friendly for the USWNT in December. It will be on Saturday, Dec. 2, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
