The United States is one of the most beautiful and different countries in the world because of how its land looks. It shouldn’t be a surprise, since the country is so big and has a lot of room for snow-capped mountains, deserts, beaches, valleys, mountains, rivers, grasslands, and even volcanoes.
But even though “America the Beautiful” is a big country, not every state has the same amount of beautiful scenery. We’re not here to say that any of the states are ugly, but let’s just say that some look like Hollywood stars and others look like your average neighbour.
At the risk of upsetting a lot of people, we made a list of some of the most beautiful states in the U.S., from pretty to have to see in your lifetime. Keep in mind that we’re looking at natural beauty, which is something that can’t be made better. This means that big cities and cute historical towns don’t earn points for their state.
Massachusetts
State Capital: Boston is the state capital.
Popoulation: 6.87 million people live there.
No. of National Park: There are 16 national parks.
Massachusetts is not the most beautiful state in New England, but it is still good enough to be in the top half of all states.
The state is at its most beautiful in the autumn, when you can take a slow drive through the famous Berkshires. It also has a good amount of Atlantic Ocean coastline.
All protected places run by the National Parks Service are among these. In addition to national parks, there are “monuments, battlefields, military parks, historical parks, historic sites, lakeshores, seashores, recreation areas, scenic rivers, and trails.”
There are some other interesting places in the state, but none of them are as beautiful as Cape Cod. Even without the beach towns and colorful houses, the Cape is full of beautiful nature places.
National Lakeshore of Cape Cod is a must-see location.
The coast is rocky and windy, and the water is cold, but all of these things add to the area’s appeal. Also, this is what gets different kinds of whales to the area, which makes it a great place to watch whales.
Boise
Boise is the main city of Idaho.
There are 6 national parks and 1.75 million people.
Montana and Wyoming, which are right next door, are generally more popular than Idaho.
Most people think that the small part of Yellowstone that is in the state is the only nature draw worth seeing. Idaho has the beauty of the national park without the people. It also has a number of other beautiful places that you probably haven’t heard of.
Surprisingly, the state is also very different. Lake Coeur d’Alene is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, Snake River Canyon and Hells Canyon are deep valleys, and Bruneau Dunes State Park has tall sand dunes.
Crater of the Moon National Monument is a place you must see
Even though space tourism to the moon seems likely to happen soon, you probably aren’t a multi-billionaire who can afford it. But don’t be afraid.
Just go to the Crater of the Moon National Monument in Idaho to see a barren scenery that is still stunning.
Charleston is the state city of West Virginia
There are 1.81 million people and 6 public parks.
If you say you’re going to West Virginia, people may ask why. People don’t pay much attention to this state, so it has a bad name as a place you only drive through if you have to.
But the truth is that West Virginia is pretty beautiful. It has gentle hills, thick woods, and deep rivers. Because of this, the state is great for people who love the outdoors but have already seen and done everything else.
New River Gorge National Park is a must-see place
In 2021, the New River Gorge went from being a state park to a national park.
Even though it’s the newest park in the national system, it’s one of the top 25 most-visited parks, which shows how beautiful this place is.
Also in the park is New River, which is one of the oldest rivers in the world, which is kind of funny.
