When he was married to Maria Shriver at the time, Arnold Schwarzenegger recalled informing her that he had a kid with their housekeeper.

In the new Netflix documentary, Arnold, the former governor of California talked about the time he told his wife that he had been having an affair with their maid, Mildred Baena, and had a son with her. The boy’s name is Joseph Baena.

“Maria and I went to counseling once a week,” he said in the documentary. The therapist once said, “I believe Maria wants to be extremely clear on a topic today. She wants to know if you’re Joseph’s dad. I thought my heart was going to stop, and then I told the truth.”

He remembered telling the former First Lady of California, “Yes, Maria, Joseph is my son.” “That made her feel terrible. I had an affair in ’96. At first, I didn’t really know. The older he got, the more clear it became to me, and then it was just a matter of figuring out how to keep it quiet.

“How can you keep something like this a secret?”

The actor from Terminator said he doesn’t want to talk about the subject because it “opens up the wounds again.”

“I think that my mistakes have caused enough pain for my family. Everyone had to go through it. Maria had to endure pain. The kids had to go through hard times. Joseph. Everyone, including his mother, he said.

Arnold also said that Joseph, who is now 25, is a “great guy” who “makes me proud.”

Arnold and Maria got married in 1986, and 10 years after they said they were splitting up, they got a divorce in December 2021. They have four kids together.

Arnold will be on Netflix starting on Wednesday.
