At the biggest awards show in the video game business, actor Timothée Chalamet announced the Game of the Year.
In Los Angeles, Willy Wonka said that the fantasy RPG Baldur’s Gate 3 had won the grand prize.
When Larian accepted the award, he said that making the epic fantasy RPG based on Dungeons and Dragons was a work of love.
Six of the awards went to it, including best acting, best RPG, and player’s choice.
Geoff Keighley, the host of the awards show, introduced Timothée as “ModdedController360,” which was the name of his now-deleted teenage YouTube channel that showed painted game controllers.
In interviews, the Willy Wonka star has talked about how much he loves video games, and he was recently seen visiting the Japanese studio of famous game creator Hideo Kojima.

Baldur’s Gate 3 won a total of six awards. Neil Newbon, who played fan favourite Astarion, won the award for best acting.

There are new
A lot of fans watch the Game Awards to see new videos and hear about upcoming games. It’s a mix of an awards show and a preview event.
Fan got their first look at Exodus, a sci-fi RPG from Archetype Entertainment, which is made up of writers who used to work for Bioware.
Hideo Kojima, a famous video game designer, showed off OD, or Overdose, a project he’s working on with Jordan Peele, director of Get Out.

Players also got a sneak peek at how Jurassic Park: Survival is played, and Sega stated that Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio would be coming back.
Not a word about job cuts
Even though there have been more than usual number of highly praised games this year, thousands of jobs have been cut in the games business.
Epic Games, the company that made Fortnite, Ubisoft Montreal, the company that made Assassin’s Creed, and Niantic, the company that made Pokemon Go, have all revealed cuts.
People often say that the three-hour show that gives out the awards, which is put together by game journalist Geoff Keighley, spends too much time on trailers and ads instead of giving out prizes.
This year, some people said the show rushed through a lot of awards at once without bringing the winners on stage.
Game site Kotaku said: “In a year when developers were laid off nearly every week, it would have been nice… to give all these talented people a moment to shine.”
