Boris Becker’s: Tennis great Boris Becker says Novak Djokovic is the “clear favorite” to beat Carlos Alcaraz and win the gold medal in men’s singles at the Paris Olympics.
After beating Rafael Nadal, the former world number one says that Djokovic “must feel good about his chances.” He also calls the great Serbian “exceptional” and praises his health and hard work.
At the 2024 Paris Games, Djokovic wants to win his first Olympic gold medal. It’s the only big prize he’s missing from his collection.
In the second round at Stade Roland Garros on Monday, the 24-time Grand Slam winner beat his great foe Nadal 6-1, 6-4. He is now in his fifth Olympics.
The 37-year-old’s best day at the Olympics was his first one, in Beijing in 2008, when he beat James Blake in the bronze medal match to win his only medal to date.
The top seed in Paris is Djokovic. In the gold medal match, he could play Carlos Alcaraz, the second seed and a four-time major winner.

Alcaraz is the best male tennis player right now. He won Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the last two months, making this his first Olympics.
For the second time this month, the 21-year-old Spaniard beat Djokovic easily in straight sets at Wimbledon to protect his title at the All England Club.
