El Nacional says that Lionel Messi will not return to Barcelona or the MLS club Inter Miami.
Messi signed a new deal with Miami this summer that will end in 2025.
After that, the 36-year-old will try to get back into his old team, Newell’s Old Boys, in Argentina, where he is from.
Messi has the opportunity to add one more year to his contract with Miami, but it is thought that he wants to stop in his home country.
Messi left Barcelona in 2021 after more than 20 years there. He had joined the Spanish giants from Newell’s as a 13-year-old.
But he turned down a chance to go back to Spain when his deal with Paris Saint-Germain ran out, and it doesn’t look like a magical return to Barcelona will ever happen.
