After spending time playing professionally in other countries, the veteran outfielder Mike Tauchman has been re-signed by the Chicago Cubs to a minor league contract.
According to the transaction logs of the Chicago Cubs organisation, Illinois native Mike Tauchman has been signed to a minor league deal with the Chicago Cubs. Tauchman is an experienced outfielder who most recently played for the Hanwha Eagles in Korea. He is currently making his way back to the United States.
Tauchman began his career in the Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member of the Colorado Rockies organisation and made his debut with the Rockies in the 2017 MLB season. Between the years 2017 and 2021, he was a member of the Colorado Rockies, the New York Yankees, and the San Francisco Giants, all of which compete in the Major Leagues.
In 257 games at the MLB level Tauchman has shot .231/.326/.378 with 17 home homers. The outfielder had a slash line of.289/.366/.430 throughout his time spent in another country.
A shoulder injury interrupted his 2020 campaign with the Yankees and then was moved to the Giants during the 2021 MLB season. Tauchman was unable to recapture his form despite having a good 2019 season, so he decided to find his game and resume his output in Asia rather than try to do so in the United States.
He is well renowned for his above-average defensive performance in the outfield, in addition to the fact that he has had some level of success at the plate. The Chicago Cubs are bolstering their roster with this move as they continue to fill up their backup plans in preparation for the 2023 Major League Baseball season.
