As the Ballon d’Or race gets closer to its end, the battle is getting tougher. Some candidates are making progress, while others are falling behind. French star Kylian Mbappe, who made news when he officially moved to Real Madrid, is falling further and further behind the other top candidates for the coveted award. Even though he made a big move, Mbappe’s chances of winning the Ballon d’Or seem to be going down.
Lionel Messi, one of the best football players of all time, also has a harder time getting the Ballon d’Or this year. Messi led Argentina to win in the Copa America 2024, but his move to the Major League Soccer (MLS) with Inter Miami has hurt his club’s reputation, which has pushed him even further down the rankings.
The Spanish sports website AS, on the other hand, says that two other players have recently become strong contenders for the award. Vinicius Jr., a Brazilian forward who has been making news for his great Real Madrid play, is up first. The young star has had a great season, helping Real Madrid win the Champions League and solidifying his place as a key player.

The star player for Manchester City is in a good running for the Ballon d’Or because of how well he plays.
Lautaro Martinez, who scored the most goals in the 2024 Copa America, is a bit further back in the race but still a name that’s been going around. Also, the Argentine striker had a great season with Inter Milan and also played very well for his country in the event. Things are different for star Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe had a hard time making the team succeed. He missed the playoffs with PSG in the Champions League and didn’t make an effect with France at Euro 2024.
