The finalists for The Best FIFA Men’s Player award for 2022 are Karim Benzema, Lionel Messi, and Kylian Mbappe.
Four groups of voters—coaches, captains, journalists, and fans—were given a list of 14 players and asked to choose their first, second, and third choices to win the prize. The three players with the highest scores would move on to the final voting.
Voters will be asked to choose between Benzema, Messi, and Mbappe again for the prize, which is based on how well the players did from August 8, 2021, to December 18, 2022.
Messi is the only one of the three who has ever won the award. The Argentine came out on top in 2019, and since the award was first given out in 2016, he has only missed the top three once. In 2018, when Luka Modric won, Messi didn’t make the list.
Messi won the World Cup with Argentina, and since Christophe Galtier joined Paris Saint-Germain, he has also been in great form for his club team.
Mbappe, who plays for PSG, is also on the list. The Frenchman scores goals at an insane rate for both club and country. He scored eight goals at the World Cup, which put him in sixth place on the list of all-time scorers at the event. Don’t forget that he’s only 24.
Messi and Mbappe both played in the World Cup, but Benzema did not. The Frenchman’s injury cost him his last chance at international glory, but it didn’t stop him from having a great year. He won the Ballon d’Or for his mesmerising play with Real Madrid.
