French media attacked Lionel Messi following PSG’s 1-0 loss to Rennes

After Paris Saint-Germain lost to Rennes on the road on Sunday, the French media were very harsh on Lionel Messi.

If everyone is still thinking about the 2022 World Cup, let alone Lionel Messi. Just a month ago, the Argentine star won the hard-to-get trophy, but now he’s back at work for Paris Saint-Germain.

Last week, Messi had a great comeback when he scored for PSG in their 2-0 win over Angers. But just a few days later, the seven-time winner of the Ballon d’Or is already getting bad reviews in France.

Rennes shocked Paris by beating them 1-0 on the road. This was Paris’s second loss of the Ligue 1 season and their first with Messi on the field. After the game, the Argentine was criticised by many news outlets.

After PSG lost to Rennes, the French press took shots at Messi

Even though Messi is one of the best and most loved soccer players of all time, the press in Paris hasn’t been kind to him since he moved there. It only took one bad show for the critics to start talking again.

“He only did well in the first half of the season because he was getting ready for the World Cup. No more of that. “He starts because Galtier, who, along with Campos, is a great revolutionary, just leaves him on the field,” RMC Sport wrote.

“Transmissions that didn’t work and little influence. “At Roazhon Park, the new World Champion was hurt just like he was a year ago,” Le Parisien said. Also, L’Equipe focused on Messi’s lacklustre performance on Sunday, saying, “We didn’t see the usual extravagance of the ball at his feet.”

Messi’s player rating from the above sources is a 4, which is one of the lowest, but not the lowest, since Neymar got a 2.5/3. On Thursday, PSG will play a friendly against the Riyadh All-Star XI. On Monday, they will play Pays de Cassel in the French Cup.
