Yusuf Dikec’s: The pictures that have been shared the most show Dikec shooting in a T-shirt with one hand in his pocket. He has normal glasses on and a blank look on his face. People have compared him to an average guy in the Olympics or even a hitman.

However, the 51-year-old is not new. Since 2008, he’s been to every Summer Olympics.

Some jokes compare Dikec to his Serbian opponent Damir Mikec, who had a blinder over one eye, a lens over the other eye, and big earplugs on.

He did, and history was made.

Ilayda Tarhan and Dikec won second place in the 10-meter air gun mixed team event on Tuesday. Turkey won its first-ever Olympic shooting medal.

Serbs won gold with Mikec and Zorana Arunovic. The Indian team of Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh won third place.

Tarhan, Dikec’s partner, was competing with big earplugs, a visor, and braids that looked like the Turkish flag in red and white. She also had one hand in her pocket while she shot.

Dikec came in 13th place in his own event, and he is now done with the Olympics in Paris. Still, he’s excited about the next Games in 2028. He said on Tuesday, “Next time I hope in Los Angeles for a gold medal.”

Dikec seems to be on board with the trend because he posted a video on Instagram that has a collection of Turkish-language jokes about him.

The shootings took place about three hours’ drive south of Paris. There were cheers for Dikec and Tarhan when they got to the French capital on Wednesday. They were met at Champions Park, an outdoor area where medalists party with fans.

Shooters can choose how they want to dress for a class.

When they shoot at the Olympic range in Chateauroux, central France, a lot of people choose to wear visors or “blinders” over one eye to help the eye that is looking down the sights focus better.

It’s not quite true that Dikec didn’t have any gun gear on. While he shot in the final, he had yellow earplugs in to block out noise. From the position of the picture that went viral, you couldn’t see them.

A Chinese rifle shooter named Liu Yukun won a gold award on Thursday. Like Dikec, he wore earplugs and not a blinder or visor.

South Korean pistol shot Kim Yeji has been praised on social media for her “main character energy” because of how confident she is and how dramatic she stands.

With pictures of Kim and Dikec, the official Olympics account on X wrote Thursday, “The Olympic shooting sport stars we didn’t know we needed.”

Kim came in second place in the 10-meter air gun event for women on Sunday, behind Oh Ye Jin of her South Korean team. Oh and Kim live together, and Kim said she was happy Oh won because she thinks of Oh as her “youngest sibling.”

Kim is going to shoot again on Friday to qualify for the 25-meter gun event for women.
