Harry’s autobiography, Spare, was a big hit, but their other projects didn’t do as well. In 2022, they signed a lucrative three-year deal with Spotify worth an estimated £18m. However, less than a year later, it was stated that their podcast, Archetypes, had been cancelled.
As part of the deal, the two were supposed to host and make a lot of podcasts. However, Archetypes was not picked up for a second season, and their deal was terminated. Bill Simmons, Spotify’s head of podcast innovation and monetisation, later called the couple “grifters.”
Also, in December, it came out that the couple’s charity, Archewell, which was called after their four-year-old son Archie and started in 2020, had lost almost £10 million in donations in just one year.
It was a sad year for the Sussexes when they released the yearly report for their charity and a promotional film showing the good things they did.
Oppenheimer won the Golden Globe for best movie, and Succession and The Bear won all the awards for best TV show. Koy’s joke about Taylor Swift didn’t seem to go over well with the singer, and Jim Gaffigan’s joke about the newly released court records for Jeffrey Epsetin made everyone in the room laugh out loud.
