Trent Alexander-Arnold got a great goal for Liverpool as they beat Leicester by a score of 3-0.
Jurgen Klopp’s team won easily at the King Power Stadium and are now just one point behind Newcastle and Manchester United in the race for the top four.
Curtis Jones scored twice in the first three minutes of the first half, giving the away team a lead they never had to give up.
But the 71st minute was the best part of the game.
Liverpool was given a free kick in a very dangerous spot, right next to Mohamed Salah and Alexander-Arnold.
Who is going to take it?
Well, in a way, Salah did take it. But the Egyptian rolled the ball a few yards to his right, where a partner ran onto it and scored.
With a slightly different position, the right-back was able to bend the ball around the wall and past Daniel Iversen in the Leicester goal.
What a blow!
Alexander-Arnold is so technically skilled that it’s surprising he doesn’t score more free kicks.
Klopp says it was a Liverpool player who blocked the free kick.
That was what Klopp was thinking after the game.
The German coach said that Liverpool should have scored more goals from the same spot, but one Liverpool player stopped that from happening.
“Third goal! What a great pattern! He said, “I love it.”
“That’s the best way we have of taking free kicks. Like that, we should have gotten three points. We can now play it straight or roll it both ways, which makes it more likely that we will score from these situations. We need to use it more.
“Three times this season, we should have scored from this free kick routine, but we saved it ourselves. I won’t say who it is because you can see it on YouTube.”
Klopp talked about which Liverpool?
About what did Klopp talk? Which Liverpool star was ‘defending it themselves.’
Well, fans of Liverpool know exactly what Klopp was talking about.
They thought back to February, when Liverpool and Crystal Palace tied 0-0.
But they would have won the game if Jordan Henderson hadn’t stopped Alexander-Arnold’s shot on goal from a free kick that was the same as what they did against Leicester.
Alexander-Arnold’s shot looked like it was going to go in, but it hit Henderson in the head instead.
Liverpool fans and Klopp haven’t forgotten about it, that’s for sure. Fans thought it was funny that the boss took indirect shots at the captain…
