Kylian Mbappe has admitted that he shouldn’t have played in Tuesday’s 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich for Paris Saint-Germain because of his injured hamstring.

At the beginning of the month, the French forward got hurt in a win over Montpellier. At first, it looked like he would miss the Bayern game, but he got back to training quickly and was healthy enough to start Tuesday’s game on the bench and come on for the last half hour.

He did score late, but his goal was ruled out because he was offside. This meant that PSG had to take their third straight loss in all competitions after former Parisian Kingsley Coman scored to seal the win for Bayern.

Mbappe said after the game that he probably shouldn’t have tried to get back into action so quickly.

“I’m not 100%, but I felt well enough to try to help my friends and play a little bit “He told the news people. “In general, I shouldn’t have come back. I did everything I could think of to make sure I didn’t have any regrets. I would have liked to have played the whole game.

“These are games we want to play and work hard to get ready for. It’s hard to stand on the sidelines and watch. I could only help for half an hour. I did all I could. I will try to get better as quickly as I can.”

PSG had to weather some storms to keep Bayern out, but a one-goal deficit gives them a chance to move on and avoid being knocked out of the Champions League last 16 for the second straight year.

On March 8, Christophe Galtier’s team will go to Munich for the second leg. By then, Mbappe should be back to full health.
