Liverpool lost 3-2 to Toulouse in the Europa League Group E game on Thursday. In the last minute of extra time, the English team had a chance to tie the game, but it was called off.
After 36 minutes, the home team broke the tie when Aron Donnum picked off the ball in center, ran into the box, and scored with a blocked shot. In the 58th minute, Thijs Dallinga made it two goals to one.
Cristian Casseres scored an own goal in the 73rd minute to give Liverpool a one-goal lead. But three minutes later, Frank Magri regained the home team’s two-goal lead by slotting home a blocked cross from close range.
He dribbled into the box and put the ball in the bottom corner, giving the Premier League team hope.
Luis Diaz started the game for Liverpool after his father was freed from kidnappers earlier on Thursday. He wasn’t very good, though, and Jota came on nine minutes from the end to replace him.
Liverpool thought they had saved a draw when Jarell Quansah scored in the seventh minute of extra time, but the goal was ruled out by VAR because Alexis Mac Allister had handled the ball earlier in the move.
“I think it was a goal 100% when we scored the third.” “The ball was in a tough spot a while ago. I’m not even sure if it was just the hand, but that’s how it is,” Klopp said.
“With all the possession you have obviously you should create more but you cannot concede three goals here, that makes no sense.”
The chat with Klopp was cut short by loud cheers and yelling from Toulouse fans who were cheering.
“We were as organised as this press conference — pretty chaotic,” said the German. “Who had the idea to do the press conference here?”
With two points more than Toulouse, Liverpool stayed on top of Group E.
