Max Homa shared an angry moment from the WM Phoenix Open on his Twitter feed. He said that he “couldn’t look less cool if I tried.”
In the video, the six-time PGA Tour winner hit a fairway bunker shot at TPC Scottsdale and then threw his club in anger. Homa’s bunker shot was too strong, and it only went 100 yards before he threw his club on the ground.
“Can’t look less cool if I tried,” Homa wrote on social media after Riggs from Barstool Sports shared the clip. This was after his final round of 72, which put him in a tie for 39th place in the tournament.
Tyrrell Hatton replied to the video by saying, “Maybe we can take fairway bunker lessons together, but at the end I’ll show you how to throw a club correctly.”
Homa replied, “I’m already nervous,” and DP World Tour player Chris Paisley said, “Sounds like the sequel to @DPWorldTour’s “Anger Management” is already set.”
The American is not known for getting angry. Last month, he won his sixth PGA Tour title at the Farmers Insurance Open and is now ranked 12th in the world, which is a career high.
This week, he will play in the Genesis Invitational at Riviera CC, his home course. In February 2021, he won his second PGA Tour title there. Tiger Woods will be back on the PGA Tour, both as a player and as a host. He will play in his home event, which is also his first official start since the 150th Open at St. Andrews in July.
