Two biological men won first place in the Illinois State Women’s Cyclocross Championship. Megyn Kelly and Piers Morgan were outraged and asked why more women aren’t speaking out against men playing in women’s sports.
Martina Navratilova brought up the problem of men making the rules and abusing them, and Riley Gaines, a former college swimmer, said there should be more categories for women and offered to personally pay prize money to any woman who gave up and didn’t participate.

As Megyn Kelly put it, the event was “infuriating.”
It was “so outrageous” what Piers Morgan wrote on X.
He asked, “Why don’t more women speak out against this violation of their rights?”
In response to Morgan, tennis legend Martina Navratilova wrote, “Women are standing up, but it’s mostly men who make the rules.”
“And male bodies are the ones who take advantage of these silly rules,” the professional athlete said.
Ridge Gaines, a former NCAA swimmer, wrote, “[USA Cycling] has two categories for men and none for women.”
Gaines said, “Any woman who gives up and doesn’t compete, I will personally pay them the prize money they’re missing out on.”
She told him, “Stop taking part in the farce.”
The USA Cycling Rules Book says, “A licensee cannot enter a race under a false name or work with another rider to let them enter a race under a false name.” This includes using someone else’s licence, race number, or timing without permission.
At the non-elite level, the rules are said to say “a member may self-select their gender.”
The rules say that biological men can race against biological women as long as the man says “that their gender identity is female.”
