Lionel Messi’s team, Inter Miami, will play two games in China next month as the club tries to make money by signing the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Miami didn’t make it into the MLS playoffs, and their last game of the regular season is on October 21 against Charlotte.
But some players, like Messi, will want to stay in shape before World Cup tests and national team games in late November. The club doesn’t have any games in November.
In friendly games, the team will play two Chinese Super League teams. On November 5, they will play Qingdao Hainiu, and three days later, they will play Chengdu Rongcheng.
Chief business officer of Inter Miami Xavier Asensi said, “We’re very excited to continue to grow our club’s global reach and bring our team to play in front of amazing fans all over the world.”
“This is a special opportunity to share the passion as we reach new audiences and put ourselves on display in new places and we’re looking forward to beginning this adventure.”
When Messi joined Miami in July, the club got a lot more fans on social media around the world. On the field, the team won its first prize, the League Cup in August.
But Miami’s busy schedule caught up with them, and Messi missed a few games, which hurt their chances of making the playoffs.
