At the end of Egypt’s World Cup qualifier against Sierra Leone, men in dress led Mohamed Salah off the field because he had been attacked by fans on the field on Sunday.
At the 89th minute of the game, Egypt was ahead 2-0. Video on social media shows officials in high-visibility yellow jackets running onto the field and tackling someone who was standing close to Salah.
After this, officials at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville, Liberia, were seen punching the person who did it on the ground before leading him off the field.
At the same time, another fan tried to get close to Salah but was pushed away by stadium staff and some of the Egyptian forward’s teammates.
Others tried to take selfies with the star in another video posted on social media. The video showed Salah being led off the field by men in dress.
Salah, who is 31 years old, didn’t seem to be upset by what had happened. He walked off the field looking cool.
On Monday, Salah shared an Instagram picture of a young mascot looking up at the Egyptian international before the game. This was the first time Salah had talked about the pitch invasion in public on social media.
It was also an exciting game, with two red cards for Sierra Leone that left them with nine men at the end.
Egypt, on the other hand, won 2-0 thanks to two goals from Trézéguet, continuing its strong start to the qualifying competition.
It is currently perfect and in first place in Group A after two games. On Thursday, it beat Djibouti 6-0.
Salah will now go back to Liverpool before Saturday’s highly anticipated Premier League match against Manchester City.
