Odell Beckham Jr., a free agent wide receiver, held a workout on Friday to demonstrate to NFL teams that he has fully recovered from the torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) that he sustained during Super Bowl LVI.
Surprisingly, the team about whom there has been more speculation than any other regarding their intentions to sign Beckham was not present.
According to Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Dallas Cowboys did not send any representatives to attend Beckham’s workout.
Despite this, it does not imply that the Cowboys have given up on Beckham. In point of fact, Hill stated that the Cowboys are “happy with the guy” and that they did not require additional evidence before pursuing him.
Hill tweeted that the Cowboys did not send any representatives to attend Odell Beckham Jr.’s workout in Phoenix. “Yet, this does not indicate that there is a lack of interest. They have a positive relationship with the player. The accomplishments of Jerry Jones’s mother astonished him. It will come down to money, and there are other teams that are still in the running.”
Around the beginning of the 2022 season, when it was widely believed that Beckham would sign with the Cowboys for the remainder of his career, Beckham made his first visit to the team. On the other hand, he was unable to participate because he was worried about his knee, which had recently had surgery.
As Hill pointed out, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones recently had a conversation with Beckham’s mother as part of the team’s efforts to get Beckham as a player.
After playing for the Cleveland Browns for the first half of the 2021 season, Beckham was waived by the team and later signed by the Los Angeles Rams. Throughout the course of 12 games, he caught 48 receptions for 593 yards and seven touchdowns, which contributed to the team’s victory in the Super Bowl. He displayed some of the explosiveness that he had had earlier in his career.
Beckham is free to sign with any team at any time, even though the rest of the NFL won’t be able to exercise their free agency until Wednesday. According to Hill’s article, his choice “will boil down to financial considerations.”
The Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets are two of the other teams who could potentially be interested in Beckham’s services. On Friday, Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner tweeted a screenshot of himself FaceTiming with Beckham, which added gasoline to the fire of rumours that Beckham might sign with the team.
