Rory McIlroy bluntly denies Tiger Woods's request before taking a nasty shot at LIV Golf's Greg Norman.
Rory McIlroy bluntly denies Tiger Woods’s request before taking a nasty shot at LIV Golf’s Greg Norman.

Even though Jordan Spieth and Adam Scott have already said it, Rory McIlroy agrees with them that Tiger Woods “needs to be involved” in the important talks with Yasir Al-Rumayyan, the head of the Public Investment Fund.

It was said that Al-Rumayyan was open to the idea of having private talks with PGA Tour players last week, during what turned out to be a very entertaining Players Championship.

Spieth, Scott, Patrick Cantlay, Webb Simpson, Peter Malnati, and Woods are among the six players on the PGA Tour Policy Board. They were told to meet with the LIV boss in person.

Sports Illustrated says the meeting is taking place at the Albany Resort in the Bahamas, which is also the site of Woods’s yearly golf tournament to raise money.

Since Woods wasn’t playing in the Players Championship, some people wondered if he would be at any meetings.

Both Spieth and Scott told Woods that he should talk to the Aussie star, who told everyone to “get on with it.”

Like Woods, McIlroy, who left the PGA Tour Policy Board at the end of last year, thought that Woods should be engaged.

When McIlroy was asked if he thought Woods’s involvement in talks with PIF was important, he replied straight out, “I mean, he’s a player director.”The man is on the board, so he has to be active.

McIlroy, who shared for 19th place at the Players Championship, also said that he was open to having a good conversation with Al-Rumayyan.

But the four-time major winner also hit LIV boss Norman again in public because he thinks the governor of the PIF has been let down by Norman.

“I think I’ve said this before, I have spent time with Yasir and his — the people that have represented him in LIV I think have done him a disservice, so Norman and those guys,” said McIlroy.

“I see the two entities, and I think there’s a big, I actually think there’s a really big disconnect between PIF and LIV.”I believe PIF is over here and LIV is doing their own thing over here.

I believe it will be very helpful if we can get closer to Yasir and PIF and hope to complete that investment.
