People became a little more interested in professional golf when LIV Golf started a little more than two years ago. This was because of the competition with the PGA Tour and the mystery surrounding the new league. But that’s all gone now, and it looks like the competition between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour has been bad for professional golf in the long run.
This week, Rory McIlroy talked about the whole thing and said that this year’s TV numbers have dropped by a huge amount.
“I think I know this isn’t the be-all and end-all, but if you look at the PGA Tour’s TV ratings this year, they’re down 20% across the board,” McIlroy told ESPN at the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio on Wednesday. “That’s five.” That’s very big. I would say that the number of people watching LIV is also not very good.

McIlroy made a few digs at the two tours, saying he believes fans are sick of the competition between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour.
There has been a lot of fights and bad behavior in men’s professional golf over the past few years, and I think people are tired of it. This is turning people off to the sport, which is bad for everyone.
Both the PGA Tour and LIV Golf are still trying to make a deal that would bring the two leagues back together, but it hasn’t happened yet.
