Scheffler shines to tie for first place with Spieth.

Scottie Scheffler shot a second round of 66, which put him above everyone else in the Hero World Challenge here on Friday. Scheffler and Jordan Spieth tied for first place after Scheffler shot the best round of the day.

Scheffler and Spieth, who had a 67 and no bogeys, were followed by Brian Harman, who was tied for first place after the first round. Harman got off to a terrible start by making three bogeys in the first four holes. He came back strong though to finish the game.

Scheffler was seven shots under after 17 holes, but a bad drive on the last hole cost him a bogey. “I did a good job driving it and gave myself many chances.” Scheffler said, “I got a bad break on the eighth hole and then got into a weird spot on the eighteenth.”

Two-time defending winner Viktor Hovland kept having trouble. He tied for 16th with a 73 for the second round in a row.

The tournament boss, Tiger Woods, did better, shooting a 70. Woods is in 15th place after making 75 in the first round.

“But I haven’t been able to finish my last two rounds the way I’d like to.” “I have two more days to get better,” Woods said.

Woods started the day with two holes and didn’t seem to be in any pain. “I fixed it up a bit from yesterday. In general, it was a better start and a stronger dedication. Today, I kept it going. Woods said, “I just wish I made a few more putts.”

“This year I’ve only played in two tournaments.” I’m not good at it anymore. That’s kind of what this golf course will make you do. He also said, “Some of the pin spots let you run the table here or go the other way very quickly.”

First place, after round two, went to Scottie Scheffler with scores of 69–66 and 67–68, followed by Brian Harman with scores of 67–69 and Justin Thomas with scores of 70–67.
