Quince Promes is supposed to be in jail for six years, but is staying in Russia to escape going there.
The 32-year-old Dutch football player got a sentence for trying to sneak 1,363 kg of cocaine into the country.
For sneaking drugs into the country, Quincy Promes got six years in jail.
The football player is in Russia and didn’t come back for the hearing.
Promes was said to have played a “guiding and facilitating role” in the illegal activity by the court.

After coming into Antwerp, the drugs were stopped before texts that led to Promes’s arrest were read.
It is thought that the cocaine came from Brazil hidden in a package of sea salt.
In January 2020, the two groups of 650 kg and 713 kg arrived in the Netherlands.
The Public Prosecution Service also found another suspect, 32 years old, guilty of bringing the drugs into the country, sending them abroad, moving them, and having them.
Arsenal once wanted to sign Promes, but he now plays for Spartak Moscow. Prosecutors said he thinks he is “untouchable” in Russia because he refused to go back to Holland for the trial.
Since the two countries don’t have an extradition deal, the former Ajax winger didn’t show up and didn’t say anything about the charges against him too.

Authorities wanted to know “how such a successful football player allowed himself to become so involved in crime.” At first, they wanted a nine-year sentence.
They said that Promes “makes the cocaine trade seem normal and almost romantic.”
The court also heard that Promes got extra attention because he was seen as a role model by many people.
Because he stabbed his cousin in the knee at a family party last year, Promes got 18 months in prison.

The football player, who played for Sevilla and has 50 caps for Holland, has appealed the sentence but was told to pay his family member money.
But Promes has kept playing football with Spartak. Before the winter break, he had 21 games and scored eight goals and set up eight others.
In his spare time, Promes wants to be a rapper. He has even freestyled with his close friend and fellow countryman Memphis Depay.
