LONDON — As a result of his involvement in match-fixing and other offences, Spanish tennis player Aaron Cortes has been given a 15-year suspension.
It was announced on Tuesday by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) that Cortes, who is 29 years old, admitted to committing 35 violations of the tennis anti-corruption programme between the years 2016 and 2018.
The ITIA stated that the activities involved “contriving the outcome of events, accepting money to contrive the outcome of events, failure to report corrupt approaches, wagering on tennis, and providing money to tournament officials in exchange for a wild card.”
