The Top U.S. State award goes to this hilly state in the West.
A new list of the best states in the U.S. doesn’t include well-known states like New York, California, and Texas. In fact, another well-known state, Florida, just made it into the Top Ten.
This is what the U.S. News “Best State Rankings” show. The rankings are based on health care, education, the business, infrastructure, and the general way of life in each state, among other things.
Who is at the top? U.S. News said that Utah is the best place to live for many reasons, including its stable economy.
In the summary of the poll, Justin Theal, a state fiscal health project officer with the nonpartisan, data-focused Pew Charitable Trusts, says that since early 2020, Utah’s tax revenue recovery has always been faster than the national trend. “In fact, when you compare Utah’s overall tax collections in the last few years to the state’s growth trend before COVID, Utah has done better than almost every other state.”
The Beehive state did the best in terms of its economy, and the study gave it a score of 1 out of 50. It also did well in No. 4 infrastructure and No. 7 health care.
Washington, which came in first in the last two U.S. News surveys, came in second this year with high scores in economic stability, infrastructure, and natural environment.
Some states scored the best in more than one area of the poll, but they didn’t make the Top 10 list. Hawaii, for example, got top marks for its health care and natural environment, but it did horribly in key areas like economy (No. 48) and chance (No. 45). That made it the 31st best state in the United States.
Idaho, Nebraska, and Minnesota are the last three states on the list of the top five U.S. states. New Hampshire, Iowa, Wisconsin, Vermont, and Florida were all in spots six through ten.
Even though there was a lot of regional variety in the ranking, most of the states were west of the Mississippi River.
Most of the lowest-ranked states, with the exception of Florida (No. 10), Georgia (No. 21), and Texas (No. 35, right on the border with the lowest-ranked states), fell to the bottom of the list. At No. 50, Louisiana was the worst state. It had the worst marks in important categories like economy, crime and corrections, and infrastructure.
