Nebraska volleyball is the top seed in the NCAA playoffs for 2023. The first weekend of the event will be held there, on December 1st and 2nd. Nebraska is in Devaney with three other teams for the first weekend.
The first game is between Nebraska and Long Island University (13–18), which is in the Northeast Conference (NEC). If they win, the Huskers will play the winner of Delaware vs. Missouri. Kentucky is the #2 seed in this part of the bracket, and Mizzou is the #6 seed. They will likely play us in the second round. Wildcats have won 16 straight games and haven’t lost a game since September 24th. Tennessee, a three-seed in Stanford’s corner, beat them. Tenn. beat Kentucky in four sets early in the season.
There are three more #1 seeds in the draw. They are at Stanford, Wisconsin, and Pitt. WI is in the upper right corner, which means that Nebraska will have to play the Badgers in the playoffs before they can play them again. As long as the seeds stay the same, Nebraska will play Pitt in the semi-finals.
Nebraska, Wisconsin, Purdue, Penn State, and Minnesota are the five Big Ten teams that are in the playoffs.
How Many Teams Are in Each Conference
SEC -8
Big 12 – 7
ACC – 5
Big Ten – 5
PAC 12 – 5
Creighton is a three-seed in the pool that Pitt is in. They will play Colgate from the Patriot League in the first round. If Creighton wins this round, they will play the winner of Minnesota vs. Utah State in the next round. The last 15 games for Creighton have all been wins, and they’ve looked great since Norah Sis came back from surgery to play.
Omaha is in the playoffs for the first time in the history of the team. Not a single seed is in their group in Wisconsin. As the first game goes on, the Mavericks play the fourth-seeded Kansas Jayhawks.
