Before the clay-court season starts, Novak Djokovic casts doubts; the tennis star could make a late choice.

Novak Djokovic says he might not have a guide for the clay-court season because he and Goran Ivanisevic broke up.

From March 2022 on, they worked together full-time, but the Croat had been on Djokovic’s team for four years before that.

Between him and Ivanisevic, who won Wimbledon in 2004, Djokovic won 12 of his 24 Grand Slam singles wins.

However, the world number one said on Instagram earlier this week that they had “stopped working together a few days ago.”

Ivan Djokovic is unhappy with his tennis play so far in 2024. He lost in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.

Up until Indian Wells, he didn’t play again. In his second match, he lost to Luca Nardi, an Italian who is 20 years old.

Because he is getting ready for the clay-court season, which starts on April 7 at the ATP 1000 Monte Carlo Masters, he chose not to play in the Miami Open.

However, the 36-year-old has cast doubt on the idea that he will have a coach in place and has hinted that he might change his mind at the last minute.

He said: “I still don’t have a clear idea who it could be and whether there will be anyone at all.”In simple terms, I’ve had a teacher since I was a kid. I’m trying to figure out what makes me happy right now and what I believe is important. Of course, you’ll know ahead of time if someone comes.”

Recently, Djokovic has been seen working with Nenad Zimonjic, who used to play tennis for Serbia.

Even though they broke up quickly, he says his friendship with Ivanisevic is still as good as ever.
Djokovic said: “First of all, Goran is my friend for life, mine and of my family’s.”I love him very much, and just because we’re no longer working together works doesn’t mean we’re no longer friends.

We went through everything, like being deported, kicked out of the team, etc. “There were many times when neither he, as my coach, nor I felt good, but he was always there for me.”That’s what I will remember most about our relationship as a professional player and coach: his kindness towards me.

Those human values always came before anything else. “I think that the result itself came as a good result of that relationship and the chemistry we had.” Of course, I hope the best for him.”

Annabel Croft, a pundit for Sky Sports and a former British star, thinks that Djokovic’s form played a role in his choice to break up with Ivanisevic.

Croft said, “I guess it came as a bit of a surprise.” He sent out a really nice message that made it clear that they are still very good friends.

They’ve been together for about six years and have won 12 Grand Slam wins together.

“But I would imagine that that tells you that all is not great where Djokovic feels his tennis is at right now.”Australia was not his place to win.

He didn’t want to play here in Miami because of personal reasons. I guess all of this was going on off the court while he tried to make up his mind. It’ll be interesting to see who he votes for next.
