Tiger Woods’s future on the PGA Tour as the tour’s commissioner updates on his injury

Fans of golf ace Tiger Woods got a sneak peek into the future from PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan. Monahan talked about when Woods might return from his injury problems.

Woods has been hurt a lot lately. In February 2021, he was in a car crash that almost killed him and hurt his legs and ankles badly. He has only played in eight events in the three years since the scary crash because of these setbacks. His world ranking has dropped to 921.

He can’t play in some events because of this. The Players Championship starts on Thursday. Before the tournament, Monahan talked about possible exemptions for Woods for the rest of the year. “I think you all know Tiger well enough to know that he wants to earn his way into every competition,” he said. That is his makeup. But I think that as you move forward and grow as a group, you think about how to serve and please a group of die-hard fans. Those kinds of talks would probably happen at the meeting of the policy board. That’s something I’m sure we would talk about. He would be the hardest to persuade, though.

In February, Woods had to drop out of the Genesis Open because he got sick in the second round. People thought that he might have hurt himself again, but it turned out that he just had the flu.
“I would like to confirm that I had to withdraw from @thegenesisinv due to illness, which we now know is influenza,” he wrote on Facebook. “I’m taking a break and feeling better.” Have fun with the games this weekend! That’s too bad I couldn’t be there. Thanks to @GenesisUSA and all the people for their support.

Many people were amazed by Woods’s wins at TPC Sawgrass, but he won’t be playing there in 2024 and hasn’t played since 2019. As The Masters was coming up, a lot of people were hoping that the seasoned player would play in the 50th Players Championship to get ready. He told everyone in December that he was going to play in at least one event every month.

People were surprised when he pulled out of the Tournament, especially after what he had said earlier and his refusal to play in this month’s Arnold Palmer Invitational, which was won by Scottie Scheffler. Up until the end of 2023, Woods had said that he wanted to play in big PGA Tour games, like the Players Championship.

The ex-World No. 1 said what he thought: “I believe that a tournament once a month would be ideal.” “I believe that is possible,” He also said something about plans and events for the future.

“You would have to start with maybe at Genesis and then something in March near the Players.”
Adding to his plan, he said, “Again, we have it set up so that the biggest events happen once a month.” It gets ready for that to happen. I need to get ready for all of that now. This week seems like a big step in the right way.
