Tom Brady says he is staying out of football for good this time.
The seven-time Super Bowl winner told Sports Illustrated on Thursday, in response to the latest rumors about a possible return to the game, “I’m sure I won’t play again.”
So, Brady said, “I’ve tried to make that clear, and I hate to say it again because I’ve already said it a lot of times.”
Reports on Monday said that Brady, who is 45, has finished a deal to buy a small share of the Las Vegas Raiders. This led to a lot of speculation.
The quarterback who has won MVP three times said he already has a lot to do.
“I’m looking forward to my job in broadcasting at Fox next year,” Brady said. “I’m looking forward to the chance I’ll have with the Raiders, and we’re working on that right now along with all the other things I’m doing in my business and personal life. I just try to spend as much time as I can with my kids, watch them grow up, and help them with the different things they have going on. This is a very important job. All of them are pretty important to me.”
The $375 million, 10-year deal between Brady and Fox Sports starts in 2024.
He told the NFL on February 1 that he was leaving after 23 seasons.
During his time with the New England Patriots (2000–19) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2000–22), Brady set NFL records for quarterback wins (251), Super Bowl wins, passing yards (89,214), and passing touchdowns (649).
