In the 2022/23 Champions League final, which will be held in Istanbul, Manchester City and Inter Milan will face off against each other.

This season, Pep Guardiola’s City team is trying to win their first Champions League title. They already won the Premier League and the FA Cup. A big night is coming up in Turkey.

Inter hasn’t been in the final since 2010, when Jose Mourinho led them to victory. They beat rival AC Milan in the playoffs to get there.

The most important thing about Simone Inzaghi’s team is that they have a lot of experience, and the Serie A team will try to use that against Guardiola’s favorite team.

Oldest goal maker in the Champions League

Veteran stars have been important to their teams throughout the history of the Champions League. Inter’s Edin Dzeko became the joint-fourth oldest player to score in the Champions League when he scored in the first leg of their quarterfinal match against AC Milan.

Dzeko’s first goal got things going for Inzaghi’s team against their rivals from the other side of the city. At 37 years and 54 days old, he was the same age as Luka Modric when he scored against Celtic last season.

Francesco Totti, who played for AS Roma and scored against CSKA Moscow in 2014 when he was 38 years and 59 days old, holds the total record. Dzeko still needs to do more to beat him.

Oldest final goal makers in the Champions League

At 38 years and 331 days old, AC Milan defender Paolo Maldini is the oldest player to win the Champions League final. He is also the oldest player to score a goal in the final.

In 2007, Carlo Ancelotti’s team won the title with a 2-1 win over Liverpool in the final. Two years earlier, they had lost to Rafa Benitez’s team.

Maldini scored an early goal for AC Milan in their Champions League final loss in 2005. He was 36 years and 333 days old at the time.

Will the match between Man City and Inter Milan in 2023 break a record?

There is a chance that Dzeko will make Champions League history when he plays against his old team in Istanbul.

On the last day of the season, Dzeko will be 37 years and 85 days old. If he scores a goal, he will move up to third on the all-time list, one day behind Javier Zanetti, and beat Maldini’s record for the last goal by just over 100 days.
