Euro 2024 is about to start. On Friday, hosts Germany will play Scotland in the first game, which will take place at the Allianz Arena in Munich. The winner will win Europe’s top soccer prize.
The 2024 UEFA European Championship will last for four weeks, from June 14 to July 14. The final will be held at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. Ten cities, such as Frankfurt, Leipzig, Dortmund, and Hamburg, will hold games.
Italy is the defending winner after beating England in Euro 2020 (which was actually played in 2021 because of the pandemic). Twenty-four European countries made it to the game, which the UEFA hopes will be watched live by five billion people around the world.

Portuguese player Cristiano Ronaldo: Ronaldo is still an important player for Portugal at age 39, and he wants to win another world title.
Florian Wirtz (Germany): The young striking midfielder is a key player for Germany because he is creative and can score goals.
From Spain, Yamine Yamal: The young Spanish star is known for how well he plays, and he is expected to make a big difference in Spain’s game.

What happened in the last Euro?
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Euro 2020 had to be held in 2021 instead of 2020. In an exciting final at Wembley Stadium, Italy beat England. After extra time, the score was tied at 1-1. Italy won 3-2 on penalties. With this win, Italy won their second European Championship and their first since 1968. England had never lost a big tournament final since winning the World Cup in 1966. This was their first loss in a Euro final.
