Portugal’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Slovakia is coming up on Friday (October 13), and Cristiano Ronaldo wrote on Instagram to try to get his team excited.
With a win, Roberto Martinez’s team can go to the European Championships in Germany as long as Luxembourg loses to Iceland. During this round of qualifying, they can also win Group J.
Ronaldo could become the first player in history to make it to a sixth European Championship. He is looking forward to the game against Slovakia and wrote on Instagram,
“Vamos Portugal.”
Ronaldo, who is 38 years old, keeps making history at the international level. He is the first player in history to have 200 games. He also scored 123 goals in 201 games for Portugal, making him the best attacker in the history of international football.
Slovakia is in second place in Group F, five points behind Ronaldo’s team. They play Selecao. They want to surprise Martinez’s team at the Estadio do Dragao and be the first team to beat them in the qualifying round.
Ronaldo is coming into the game after having a great season with Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League. In 11 games across all tournaments, he has scored 11 goals and set up six others. He is the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League.
Portugal is the favorite to beat Slovakia on Friday because they have won all six games in their group and are undefeated.
It is said that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to play for Portugal at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to The Daily Star, Cristiano Ronaldo wants to keep playing for Al-Nassr until 2027. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s current contract ends in fifteen months, but he still wants to play professional football until the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Even though Ronaldo has had a great career, he has yet to win the World Cup. It is the only prize that is missing from his impressive collection. In 2016, he won the European Championships with Portugal.
The famous Portuguese player joined Al-Nassr in January after both parties agreed that his deal with Manchester United would end in November 2022. Football stars like Neymar and Karim Benzema have followed him to the Middle East because he was a leader in the sport.
The five-time winner of the UEFA Champions League has said that he no longer wants to play in Europe. He has been the best football player in Europe for the past 20 years, winning titles with Real Madrid, Juventus, and Manchester United.
