Ariana Grande didn’t just split up with her husband Dalton Gomez because she wants to get a divorce. She is also said to have already found a new man. He is 32 years old and his name is Ethan Slater. She knows him from work. (Doesn’t that happen all the time? Even, it seems, for well-known people.)

Even though Slater and Grande have been acting like crazy, he wasn’t exactly a popular name before TMZ reported on their relationship Thursday morning.

Who is Ethan Slater? When did he start dating Grande? Here are some important things to know about the man who, in theory, could be the next Mr. Grande.

He is a ‘Wicked’ person

Slater plays Boq, a college friend of Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande) and a love interest for Nessarose (Marissa Bode) in “Wicked,” which Grande also stars in. Part 1 of the movie is set to come out in November 2024. Filming for the movie started on Valentine’s Day in the U.K.

Grande and Gomez’s split after two years of marriage became public on Monday. According to reports, they split up in January (they got married in May 2021), so the “Thank U, Next” singer was officially free to date by the time “Wicked” started shooting. TMZ said that Gomez has also been seeing someone.

He married the high school sweetheart of a singer. Us Weekly says that Slater and artist Lilly Jay got together in 2012. In 2014, they moved from Maryland to New York. In 2018, they got married, and last year, they had a son together. Us said that Slater and Jay seemed to be doing well last fall based on a post Jay made on Instagram for their anniversary in November. He called her “my best friend.” 10 years together, 4 years married. This is by far the best (and strangest) year ever.”

And now that seems to be over, but a source told ET that Grande and Slater didn’t start dating until they both broke up with their partners. The source said that the two started dating “recently,” but Page Six said that Slater was seen with his arm around Grande in a picture taken in March at a “Wicked” cast party.

He has a background in Broadway

Slater was nominated for a Tony for playing the main character in the Broadway musical version of “SpongeBob SquarePants,” which opened in December 2017 and ran until September 2018. He and his acting friend Nick Blaemire also wrote the show “Edge of the World,” whose music was turned into a theme record in 2021. (Don’t mix this with the film “Edge of the World,” which came out in 2021 and stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Dominic Monaghan. Different in every way.) All 13 songs on the record are sung by Slater and Blaemire.

On the Broadway Records website, a description of the show says, “In Edge of the World, young Ben and his father Henry move to a remote piece of land in rural Alaska. Ben uses his imagination to deal with his new surroundings.” “But as he finds out more about what led him to be alone, the line between truth and lie starts to blur. It’s a big, hand-made story about the world we’re given and the one we make for ourselves.”

He/him are the pronouns for Slater

In one of his YouTube movies, “he/him” was right there on the screen. Now you know. He joined YouTube in 2012, which is also the year he began dating Jay.

Grande has 377 million fans on Instagram, which is a lot more than Slater’s 84,000. Not that anyone new can look at Slater’s IG without his permission: After news spread about his dates, he made it private. This week, all Grande did was delete pictures of her soon-to-be-ex-husband from her Instagram.

If you believe in astrology, he and Grande are a good match. Slater is a Gemini, by the way. The sign of Grande is Cancer. Depending on which horoscope you go to, it could work, but it sounds like it could be hard in the long run.

“These two signs look at the world in such different ways that they must be able to understand and accept each other’s differences,” Astrology.com says, adding that Gemini’s “chivalrous nature and silver tongue” might get the “sensitive, emotional” Cancer to come out of her shell faster than normal. Gemini seems to want to start doing weird things as soon as possible, while Cancer just wants a hug from her honey.

The site also says that Slater will be the one to end the relationship when it comes to an end.

“Even though the two signs will laugh together and have a great sense of humor, their relationship wouldn’t be the best,” says Pinkvilla. This is because Gemini will be blown away by Cancer’s humility and kindness, but the air sign wants freedom that Cancer’s clingy nature may never let them find.
