The 2024 Sentry Tournament of Champions is set to start this week, with the first round on January 4 in Miami. Tiger Woods will not be playing in the tournament.
The field for the tournament is very strong: 59 players who finished in the top 50 of the FedEx Cup standings and won PGA Tour events in 2022–23.
In the past season, Woods did not finish in the top 50 of the FedEx Cup standings or win any events. Because of this, he can’t take part in the 2024 Sentry Tournament of Champions.

Woods is excited to play in professional events, even though his game isn’t very good right now.
He is not going to be in the Sentry Tournament of Champions, but he is likely to play in the Genesis Invitational Open, which every year takes place in February. Woods took part in the event the previous year and tied for 45th place. He shot 69, 74, 67, and 73 in the rounds, for a total of 283 that was one stroke below par.
Woods talked about being in more events last year at the 2023 Hero World Challenge. He said that in 2024 he would play in at least one event every month.
Woods also made it sound like he might play in the Genesis Invitational and The Players Championship again in 2024. According to CBS, he said:
If everything goes well, there might be a game once a month. I believe that is possible. You might need to start at Genesis and do something in March near The Players.
“Again, we’ve planned that the biggest events will happen once a month.” It gets ready for that to happen. I need to get ready for all of that now. This week seems like a big step in the right way.
