Why is Jon Rahm not in the Hero World Challenge 2023?

Jon Rahm, who won the Masters, will not be able to play in the 2023 Hero World Challenge. There are reports going around that the Spanish golfer will join LIV Golf next year, which is backed by Saudi Arabia. The player had already dropped out of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TGL virtual golf series. He hasn’t said anything about LIV yet, though.

The defending champion, four major PGA event winners, 11 players from the Official World Golf Ranking, The Players Championship winner, and any other players picked by the Tiger Woods Foundation make up the 20-person Hero World Challenge field.

Jon Rahm, who is currently ranked third in the world, has decided not to play in the 2023 Hero World Challenge, even though he is eligible to do so. But since the Spanish player didn’t play in the last two events, it’s not a surprise that he won’t be there this year either.

Rahm came in second place at the 2019 Hero World Challenge, which was his last time competing. At that point, Henrik Stenson won the event by just one stroke.

Rahm entered the race since he was already the winner. In 2018, he beat Tony Finau of the United States by four shots to win the Hero World Challenge.
