A two-time MLB World Series winner died Monday after an emergency surgery.
He played in the Major Leagues for 16 years and has since died. The New York Post says that different accounts say he was either 84 or 87 years old.
The first player born in Venezuela to win a Gold Glove was the two-time World Series winner. He played for six different MLB teams, including the Pirates and the A’s, with whom he won titles in 1971 and 1973.
The Pirates wrote about the loss on social media.
“We’re sorry to hear about Vic Davalillo’s death. He was on our 1971 World Champion team.” They said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the whole Davalillo family.”
The famous MLB player died in Caracas after having emergency surgery for kidney failure and a blockage in the intestines.
